Policy statement

Purpose of this Policy

This is a subset of the Campus Posting Policy. As such, the purpose of this policy is to outline the size, time, place, and manner of materials placed or posted in the college’s residential buildings per the Campus Posting Policy. This policy applies to all of the CCA Community.

Residential Posting Policy

In the residential buildings, announcements of any kind are strictly prohibited anywhere other than the designated posting areas outlined below, including the front desk, elevators, outdoor spaces, cafe, stairwells, interior and exterior doors, and trashrooms. Anyone alleged to violate this policy is subject to disciplinary action and/or exclusion from future postings in residential buildings.

Procedures

General Guidelines

This is a subset of the Campus Posting Policy. As such, the purpose of this policy is to outline the size, time, place, and manner of materials placed or posted in the college’s residential buildings per the Campus Posting Policy. This policy applies to all of the CCA Community.

  • Posted material must clearly indicate the name of the sponsoring person or organization, date of the event/deadline, and contact information. Materials that do not identify the sponsoring person or organization or the date of the event will be removed.
  • Removal of signs, other than by the posting party or CCA staff acting pursuant to their assigned or delegated duties, is prohibited.
  • Postings not in designated areas will be taken down.
  • Announcements related to off-campus housing, rentals, or subleases, and off-campus employment are prohibited.
  • Solicitation or marketing of any product, service, or otherwise that is not explicitly approved is prohibited.
  • The maximum number of announcements in Founders Hall is seven (7); the maximum number of announcements in Blattner Hall is five (5).

Process for Posting

  • Those wishing to post announcements in residential buildings should bring announcements to the front desk at Founders Hall and/or Blattner Hall.
  • At their earliest convenience, Residential Education staff will review and stamp approval of the announcement. Should the announcement not meet the posting guidelines, Residential Education staff may attempt to communicate with the posting party.
  • Approved postings will be posted and removed by Residential Education staff in designated areas based on the availability of space and the category of announcement.

Lobby

Auxiliary Services, Capstone Management, and Residential Education reserve both the large open space in the lobby (facing west and north) and the pillars located near the elevators for residential events and health & safety announcements. Space permitting, these posting areas may also be used for general campus-wide and student-led announcements.

Hallways

Auxiliary Services, Capstone Management, and Residential Education reserve the bulletin boards in the common areas for announcements related to residential events and health & safety matters.

Common Areas

Bulletin Boards located in each of the common areas are designated for general campus-wide announcements and residential events.

Lobby

Auxiliary Services, Capstone Management, and Residential Education manage and curate postings on the wall across from the elevator bank. This space may be used for postings in the following announcement categories: Health & Safety, Residential Events, General Campus-Wide, Student-Led.

Common Area Pillars

Pillars located in each of the common areas are designated for general campus-wide announcements and residential events.

Common Area Bulletin Boards

Auxiliary Services, Capstone Management, and Residential Education reserve the bulletin boards in the common areas for announcements related to residential and health and safety matters.

In this policy, student-led announcements are defined as postings created by students to promote and support their art, interests, and activities, including art shows and club events.
