Last updated on Sep 08, 2025

The requirements, reviews, and curriculum for CCA's Printmedia program are designed such that graduating students successfully achieve the following program learning outcomes:

Technical Skill

Students produce advanced work with strong technical skill in one or more of the following areas: intaglio, lithography, relief, monotype, screen printing, book arts, photo print processes, digital and hybrid printmaking, and papermaking.

Cohesive Body of Work

The student has developed a cohesive body of work with refined techniques, ideas, and concepts as shown in their Senior Exhibition.

Digital Skills

Knowledge of digital tools and print technologies to produce creative works, distribution networks and well-documented online portfolio.

Presentation

The use of curatorial methodologies and tools to exhibit artistic work in a professional manner for public viewing, dialogue, and critique is required. Students complete a Senior Exhibition, online portfolio, exhibition card, digital announcement, artist resume and statement. Students demonstrate oral and written communication skills that support thoughtful, rigorous and well-researched practice as an artist, printmaker, publisher, curator, teacher, and/or arts worker.

Historical & Contemporary Perspective

Knowledge of historical and contemporary art practices and practitioners in the expanded field of printmaking, and understanding of the ways that Printmedia circulates within global contemporary culture.

Health and Safety

Students employ best practices regarding health and safety in the studio. Students are excellent stewards in the collaborative ecosystem of printmaking shops, studios, and facilities.

Sustainability

Knowledge and conscientious use of materials and processes to reduce the impact of the practice and support a broad vision of health and wellbeing for an artist within their environment. Students demonstrate an understanding of sustainability as a global, social, economic, environmental, and practice-based concern.

Diversity

Students can engage with diverse and global perspectives, histories, and values, and understand the cultural relevance of larger systems of power and privilege.
