Demonstrate the ability to:

  • Use advanced research techniques of chosen concentration
  • Use advanced design methodologies of chosen concentration
  • Participate in contemporary discourses of chosen concentration.

Digital Craft (LOs for Concentration)

Upon completion of the MAAD certificate program Digital Craft concentration, students will demonstrate the following:

  • Proficiency with a range of experimental and emerging technologies of digital design.
  • Proficiency with parametric design and advanced computation in the context of architectural design, or
  • Proficiency in digital fabrication and robotic technologies and their applications in architectural design, or
  • Proficiency with interactive technologies and responsive environments and their impact on architectural design, or
  • Proficiency using building information modeling (BIM) and advanced simulation/visualization techniques as tools for design and construction.

Urban Works (LOs for Concentration)

Upon completion of the MAAD certificate program Urban Works concentration, students will demonstrate the following:

  • Proficiency engaging with contemporary urban theories and concepts and their impact on urban design.
  • Proficiency conducting and presenting urban design research, design visualizations, and GIS mapping.
  • Proficiency developing strategies for integrating social justice, ecological vitality, and economic resilience into urban design projects.
  • Proficiency building relationships and engaging with city agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other architectural practitioners.

History-Theory Experiments (LOs for Concentration)

Upon completion of the MAAD certificate program HTX concentration, students will demonstrate the following:

  • Proficiency developing in-depth knowledge of a chosen topic related to the built environment through independent research.
  • Proficiency engaging with architectural and urban history, theory, and criticism in research and design projects.
  • Proficiency in experimental and digital humanities methods and platforms.
  • Proficiency developing a substantial research project for professional-level publication, exhibition, website, or app.
  • Proficiency operating within the conventions of architectural teaching, curation, digital humanities, criticism, journalism, or adjacent areas of academic study.
